Time Zone woes...

Hello all:

I run a small office of three users, each on Entourage. We have our mail
supplied by Apptix, in the States, and we are based in London. We used to
run email on Outlook, with another company, but exported our inboxes over to
Apptix and Entourage in October last year.

We have two seemingly unfixable time zone issues, both apparently tied to
the time zone of Apptix's server.

Problem 1:
Calendar events from before the move (ie, from when we were using Outlook)
are tagged with the server's time zone (CET). All day events shift back a
day. Timed events display correctly, but within the event have several pale
yellow bars warning of a discrepancy in time zones, with the 'correct' times
displayed below that.

This also applies to events added on Apptix's OWA. When they arrive on
Entourage, the same symptoms as above apply.

Problem 2:
When forwarding an email, the data in the email header is displayed with the
Exchange server time zone. For example, I received this email at 10:30am
this morning:

------ Forwarded Message
From: Steve <address deleted>
Date: Fri, 27 Mar 2009 05:30:40 -0500
To: Toledo Productions
Subject: Co-production

Notice the different time zone? This doesn't show up on the Inbox - there is
reads "10:30".

I've exhausted all online help. I found the numerous articles pointing to
the Exchange hotfix KB article, and convinced Apptix to apply it. They did,
but the problems still remain.

I've re-built identities several times.

All available time zone settings (in OSX, in Entourage and on the Exchange
server client CP) are set to UK time.

It feels that, no matter what we do, Entourage still keeps picking up on the
server time, rather than our time.

So - is there any way of stopping this? In other words, can one force
Entourage to ignore the Exchange server's time zone?

Of note, we have an old Mac running Entourage 2004, as well as our new Macs
with Entourage 2008 12.1.5, and these all suffer the same problem...

Many thanks in advance,

Ben Williams

Yes, via OWA, but also via Apptix's 'OnDemand' console, where there are
options for specifying your country, etc.

Time zone issues are tricky to troubleshoot. What you need to do next is
test with different time zones.

First, if you change your server's time zone, does this affect your
settings at all? If not, then you can probably take that back to Apptix
for them to fix.

If you change the time zone on your Mac to match the timezone where your
Apptix server resides (assuming the host server itself is properly set)
then are your times affected?
