timer on a message box

Is there any way I can put a timer on a form so that any
message boxes we have set up to appear (through a macro)
will appear for say 3 seconds and then disappear by
themselves?

Not if they are true message boxes, displayed by the MsgBox function.
If your message boxes are popup forms, though, you could close them via
code in their own Timer events, or you could conceivably (though
undesirably) have code in the form from which they are opened that would
close them after a specified interval.
