Timers

Carl

Greetings from Downunder
I would like to have a small digital stopwatch on display somewhere on the
screen whilst in presentation mode to help me arrange timing of groups of
slides prior to adding sound, for example. I have downloaded several
different types of stopwatch and whilst I can get them to work "on top" of
the presentation view I find I cannot actually get the PPT presentation to
start then. Has anyone found a way around this, or is there a specific type
of stopwatch I need?
Using XP Pro + SP2 and Office XP
All help always appreciated
/carl

Hi Carl

Greetings from Adelaide! 40 days of water left and counting...

Have you tried using the inbuilt timer? Slide Show->Rehearse timings. I use
2003 but I'm pretty sure timings are available in XP.

Some time ago I wrote a macro to show time in hh.mm.ss format in a
presentation show mode in the upper left corner of the slide. This was to let
me see how much time I have already spent talking. The time is only updated
when a slide is changed to the next or previous, etc., and the timer is
started when the show begins. The time is set to zero at the show start. If
this timer can help you, I can send you the code, or if there is more
interest in it I can post it somewhere.

Thank you all for your replies.
Jan, what you have sounds ideal -- but I wouldn't have a clue what to do
with "code".
Can you fill me in?

Carl,

I can send you a short PPT presentation with 3 simple slides in it and the
timer in the background. You can copy your presentation into it and delete
my 3 slides. In the mail I will explain how to use it and how to make any
changes if you wish so.

Please post or send me your e-mail address to jcz .at. telusplanet .dot. net
- just convert .at. and .dot. and delete the spaces. (I do not need more spam
that I already have.)

greetings from Canada,
