Timesheet Acceptance Error

Andrew Curtis

Hey

Got an error while trying to accept a users timesheet, searched discussion
group and only found this post that had not been replied to... This is after
clicking 'Update' in PWA and Project Pro opens to make the change to the
project. Am using Project Pro SP2 and Project Server SP2a. This project has
hammock tasks inside of it but no links to an external file.

Any thoughts?

Old Post Follows:

//I get an error:
//
//'the message cannot be opened because it contains an attachment in a
//format that cannot be read'
//
//When a colleague accepts the Updates in to two plans he is the owner
//for...
//
//During this a temp file MSPJ.MTM appears also may or may not be
//relevant... I suspect not.
//
//This has only just turned up, additionally... both plans were linked
//together (and are no longer and we still see the issue) and none of our
//other plans are linked.
//
//Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey, yourself! :) Is this project saved as an .mpp file instead of being
saved in the Project Server database? That might be one possible cause of
this problem. An additional cause could be that the project has become
corrupted. If so, the PM would need to save the project as an .xml file and
then the administrator would need to delete the project from the Project
Server database. The PM would then need to open the .xml file and save the
project again as an .mpp file. He/she could then import the .mpp project
back into the Project Server database using Tools - Enterprise Options -
Import Project to Enterprise. Just a couple of ideas. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help, I found the problem, the PM had renamed a task that had
unaccepted assignments against it, so there was two tasks in the updates page
with the same ID

ID | Task
4 | Old Task
4 | Renamed Task

So the user had assigned herself to the task under the old name, but it
hadnt been accepted into the project plan by the PM, the PM then went and
renamed the Task, the user then assigned themselves to the new renamed task
so there was two tasks trying to be accepted into the project plan each with
the same ID.

Lucky for me there was no actuals against these tasks yet so i was able to
cull them from the project using Admin/Clean up Project Server
Database/Resource Task Changes. I also deleted these tasks in Project Pro and
recreated them. Everything seems to be fine now.

Thanks for your advice, i was getting worried that the project was
corrupted...
