Timesheet actual work not syncing with Project 2007

Hi,
The timesheet actuals from resources aren't correctly showing in the
project. For example, I have a resource who put 5 hours in one of the days
and the project is showing 0 for that date. Is there something happening on
the server that could be causing the actual work to change?

Thanks,

When you say timesheet actuals, I take you to truly mean the timesheets
residing in My Timesheets and not the tasks residing in My Tasks.

If so, are all the steps being followed that are required to move hours
reported in resources My Timesheets to the Project Plan itself?

1) Synch My Tasks with My Timesheets.
2) Select tasks to send to PM and Submit them via My Tasks
3) PM accepts the updates into the project plan, saves and publishes the
plan back out

Also, if you do not have protected actuals enabled, the PM could potentially
overwrite the actuals reported by resources in the project plan.

If the PM then publishes these changes, the actual hours that the resource
reported would be overwritten in their My Tasks list but will never be
overwritten in My Timesheets as that is not linked directly to My Tasks or
the Project Plan, it is stored in a separate area in the DB on purpose.

Hi Jonathan,
The resources enter their hours in the my timesheet page and then they
import the tasks back into the project plan. After that, the project manager
reviews the time, accepts the time and publishes the plan. However, the hours
from the my timesheets aren't importing correctly into the project plan. For
example, my personal timesheet shows 40 hours but only 39.26 hours went back
into the project plan. How do you synch my tasks with my timesheets? Where is
this information stored at on the database?

Thanks,

To synchronize My Timesheets with My Tasks you should use the Import
Timesheet button.

Do you have protected actuals implemented?

Hi Jonathan,
Yes, we do have protected actuals implemented. After I save and submit my
timesheet, I click on my tasks, import timesheet, highlight the correct week,
click on import, highlight the white checkbox under reassign work to check
all of the tasks and click on submit selected. I'm not sure why the actual
worked hours in the project aren't matching the actual worked hours in the
timesheet. The numbers should be the same. Please let me know if I'm doing
this incorrectly.
Thanks,

It sounds like you are doing all the right steps. When you import the
timsheet hours, can you validate that the tasks are showing the correct
amount of actual work? Maybe there is a discrepencay in one of the days?
What I mean is do the actuals from the timesheet match exactly the acuals
that are being imported into the task list?

Hi Jonathan,
No, the actual work in the task doesn't match the actual work in the
timesheet. I don't understand how those hours in the timesheet. Shouldn't
they be the same?

Thanks,

Hi Barbara,

I have experienced the same problems. One of our resource did fill in
Mon 4 hours and Thu 4 hours, did import his timesheet in the tasklist
and submitted the task to the PM. The PM has accepted the taskupdate
and afterwards opened the project in the Project 2007 and published
the project. Publishing the project in the client will publish the
taskupdate. When looking back into the actual work in the project, the
4 and 4 hours are registered as 3,72 and 4 hours. Also from the week
before the hours are 0,08 - 1,7 - 4,98, the resource did register in
his timesheet 1,5 and 5. When looking to the total amout of actual
work for that task, it seems to match.

So Project 2007 does (for some reason) level the actual work?

I am experiencing the same issues with Actuals from the Timesheet not
mirroring the Actual Work in the Project Plan - did you guys fix yours?

I saw there were a couple of hotfixes - Please let me know how you resolved
it.

Thanks in advance.

John
