Timesheet Approval - 2 Questions

M

MaryTech

At the end of June we went live with Project Server 2003. Since our go live
there are 2 questions I cannot seem to find the answer to pertaining to
timesheet approval. They are:

1) Even though a resource selects update all when submitting their
timesheet, not all 40 hours appears on the Approve Timesheet view. If the
manager goes into View resource assignments they can verify the resource has
submitted 40 hours. The timesheet behavior appears to be random. Can anyone
explain this behavior?

2) In a timesheet some of the entries appear to be colored coded in red,
some in blue and others in black. Can anyone provide a definition for this
color coding?

I am not sure about the fist question you are having, but for the second
question, any hours that appear ‘red’ means those hours have not been applied
to the project plan. In other words, the project manager did not apply the
actuals to the project plan and save it yet. When the hours are ‘black’, the
user knows they have been applied to the plan. I am not sure what the
difference between blue and black is (if any).

Joe --

1. I'm not sure I can explain random behavior such as this. Sorry.

2. The red numbers indicate updates that been entered on the timesheet and
saved, but not updated to the PM. Blue numbers indicate updates sent to the
PM but which the PM has not updated into the project plan. Black numbers
indicate updates sent to the PM and updated into the project plan.

Hope this helps.
