Timesheet Approval Delegation

When a timesheet approver is out, what is the easiest way to delegate this
responsibility to another individual (let's assume the other individual has
the proper security to do timesheet approval)? Since the project and it's
tasks are "owned" by the timesheet approver, can someone else go into the
project, republish the assignments, after taking ownership of the tasks
temporarily? Then, when the original timesheet approver returns, he would
have to republish the tasks again, taking back ownership of the tasks.

Does re-publishing task assignments change who gets the updates to approve?
What happens if some of the timesheets have already been sent to the
timesheet approver who is out? They wouldn't get re-directed, would they?

Wouldn't this process generate a lot of extraneous email notifications also?

Refer to the following link for how to change the owner/manager of a
project:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/changeprojmgr.htm

If you are using Project Server 2003, the steps referenced in the FAQ will
cause Project Server to redirect all pending and future task updates to the
new manager. When the former manager returns from vacation, he/she will
need to complete the same set of steps. When either manager performs the
steps, they have the option to not send an e-mail message in the Republish
Assignments dialog, which will eliminate the e-mails that would be triggered
by the temporary change of manager. Hope this helps.
