Yes. Do the following:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click Admin - Server configuration
3. In the permissions grid, scroll to the Tasks section
4. Set the following permissions to Deny

Approve Timesheets for Resources
Timesheet Approval

5. Click the Save Changes button

Hope this helps.

Hi Dale,

Thanks for this but I have been told that approval is necessary to get time
from the timesheet to the Portfolio Analyzer, as well as many other reports
and views. Is there a way around that?

Many thanks for your assistance

Who told you this? I cannot confirm what they told you about the
relationshp between the Timesheet Approval process, the Portfolio Analyzer,
and other PWA views. What I can tell you for certain is that there is a
difference between approving timesheets (using the Timesheet Approval
process) and updating task updates from the Updates page PWA into the
Microsoft Project plan. These are two entirely different operations and
should not be confused. Furthermore, did you know that PM's can update
tasks updates from timesheets that have not yet been approved?

The information that appears in the Portfolio Analyzer is information that
has been updated from PWA into the Microsoft Project plan and then published
by the project manager. The information will appear in the Portfolio
Analyzer the next time the OLAP Cube is rebuilt, and will appear regardless
of whether anyone approved timesheets using the Timsheet Approval feature.
The latest published project information will also appear in Project Center
views, detailed Project views, and Resource assignment views, regardless of
whether anyone approved timesheets using the Timesheet Approval feature.

As I stated earlier, I could be wrong about this, and will gladly invite
others to correct me if they have first-hand knowledge about this topic.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for this reply Dale.

Sorry for the confusion - I am talking about updating task updates. We
would like to remove this feature without affecting any reports etc. We
currently use the system mainly as a timesheet system and our PMs do not
currently check or approvel time submitted so it would be great to be able to
turn this feature off.

Many thanks

When team members submit task updates, PM's need to go to the Updates page
and process those updates into the Microsoft Project plan and publish the
latest schedule changes to the project plan. This "pushes" the data into
various PWA views and is updated into the OLAP cube the next time the system
rebuilds the cube. Given the fact that you stated you wanted to see the
information in various places in PWA, then I would recommend that your PM's
should start using the system completely. Just a thought. Hope this helps.
