Timesheet Corruption

B

BruceFFIC

We are running Project Server 2007 SP2 and Aug09 CU. Project Hosts is
our ASP for our servers.

In the past two weeks we have had a number of users try to open their
"In Progress" timesheet and get an error.

The after about 5 minutes the error received is:

Error

"Project Web Access cannot connect to Project Server because the
connection timed out. For more information, contact your system
administrator.

Web Parts Maintenance Page: If you have permission, you can use this
page to temporarily close Web Parts or remove personal settings. For
more information, contact your site administrator.
Troubleshoot issues with Windows SharePoint Services."

As a work around Microsoft has provided a scrIpt to Project Hosts to
delete the timesheet record from DB.

Has anybody else had this issue, or know what can be causing
condition, and how to fix it. I my users are getting a little
frustrated.

Thanks,

Digging around in the back of my mind, I seem to recall corruption happening
when a user enters and saves time into a cell and then changes it by
blanking it out rather than typing zero. See if this is a possible match to
your user behavior. No guarantee this is it. I just want to make sure you
have at least one straw to grab!

Even I have faced the same issue in one off our environment, I just reset the webpart by clicking on Web Parts Maintenance Page, Then Reset the IIS and then i checked we were able to browse the PWA site

AK,

Thanks, we tried that it does not help. What is unique about these
corruptions is the timesheet has between 60 and 95 tasks on one
timesheet. These seem to be the only ones having this problem.

Gary,

Thanks for replying so promptly, and sorry for my delay in responding,
but I am up to my butt in aligators.

We looked at this and deemed that this was not a happening.

What is unique about these corruptions is the timesheet has between 60
and 95 tasks on one timesheet. These seem to be the only ones having
this problem.

We are now going to engage MS to do a Health Check on our setup.

Again, thanks.

You're in extremely good hands with Project Hosts. If anyone can help you
get to the bottom of this, the PH team can.
