Timesheet filter issue

David Luper

We are running a hosted Project Server 2003 instance from a data center that
PMs access via a terminal server and users access via web part from a
Sharepoint Portal site. Some of the users are reporting (and I have seen)
that their timesheets are showing all work plan and tasks that they ever had
an assignment on. When they click All Tasks and then Current Tasks, the
timesheet does not filter out all but the current tasks. I have tried all
combinations of the View options to no avail. We have tried refreshing their
profiles on the server itself to no avail.

Has anyone out there had an issue like this and any approaches to try?

Thanks!

Several questions:

1. When team members click the Current Tasks option, do any tasks get
hidden from view? If so, which ones? Which ones don't get hidden?

2. Are your team members able to hide tasks by selecting a task and
clicking the Hide button?

3. Have you ever used the Clean up Project Server database option to remove
completed tasks from each user's timesheet in PWA?

Let us know.

Dale -

Thanks for the quick reply. I apologize for my late reply; it has been busy.

We still have no solution, and I investigated the questions below.

No. For the users with the problem, no tasks are hidden from view
2. Are your team members able to hide tasks by selecting a task and
clicking the Hide button?

Yes. They can do this, but we would like a more programmatic solution.
3. Have you ever used the Clean up Project Server database option to remove
completed tasks from each user's timesheet in PWA?

We have considered this, but we maintain the task information for invoicing
and reporting purposes. So, I am concerned that we would clean the record of
these tasks from the database in general. Do you have experience in using
this approach? Could you describe it in greater detail or point me to some
documentation of this feature?

Thank you again for all the help.

What is your organization's definition of "Current Task" as specified in
PWA? Do the following to find out:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click Admin - Customize Project Web Access
3. Scroll to the "Define current tasks" section at the bottom of the page

The default setting for this section is 10 days. What is your
organization's setting? If you see a very large number, then this is a
mistake and I would recommend setting it back to 10 days. Let us know what
you find.

In general, it is set to 10 days. I tried setting it to 5 days to see if
that would help, but it did not.

Thanks!

Hi there!

I was just wondering if any has any ideas on the whole Current Tasks view or
not?

Thanks!
