Project closed, but I have 4 tasks updates waiting for my approval. PWA says
there is no work remaining.

what do you see if you click on the task update apporval screen? Can you see
the 4 tasks?

Here is what the PM sees:

Remember the project completed nearly six months ago.

Stacey, sorry I should have asked this earlier, but are you on a 2003
environment?
Also, can the PM see these tasks in the approval screen and if so, can the
PM approve the change, even if there is no remaining work left?

We are using Project 2007.
The PM can see the tasks in the approval screen and she can approve the
change, even though there is no work remaining.
