Timezone error message - Error () (0x8000101E, 0x80004005, 0x00001

Hi,

I am using Outlook 2007 on a vista machine, and since just recently, every
time I open outlook I get a message saying that
"A Change to '(GMT +08:00) Perth' has occurred. Appointments, meetings, and
reminders will be updated to reflect this change. ... Select the Time zone in
which you are usually located" and then there is a drop down box to select
the appropriate time zone.

So I select +8 GMT Perth - where I live and click OK

Then the computer goes through a list of appointments, and every item comes
up with an error message saying that "the time for this appointment cannot be
modified"

If I open the log - I get a very long list of all the failed attempts. They
all look basically like this, though with different name and date details (of
course):

Type: Appointment
ID:
040000008200e00074c5b7101a82e0080000000010fa2181fc6ec7010000000000000000100000009a7a4cd3c6e5b74aa83928e0aa046feb
Subject: New years day
Old Start Time: Sunday, 31 December 2006 4:00 PM
New Start Time: Sunday, 31 December 2006 4:00 PM
Old End Time: Monday, 1 January 2007 4:00 PM
New End Time: Monday, 1 January 2007 4:00 PM
Recurring: Yes
Result: Error () (0x8000101E, 0x80004005, 0x0000100B)

This is becoming very annoying, especially since I don't recall changing the
time zone, or anything like that.

Even more annoying, if I open one of the appointments in question, then and
go to adjust the recurance pattern, or change the time zone. I get a message
that says "The operation filed" and I am unable to make any changes.

Further, some of the appointments, If I look at the time zone, it starts at
+8GMT Perth, yet finishes at +8 GMT Beijing ...

I don't even recall making any changes to my computer at the time these
error messages started appearing.

Any help that could be offered would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Alastair

Have you tried deleting the all day event for New Years Day that the error
message refers to and then see if Outlook can complete the realignment of
DST changes?

I was getting the error message for over 200 calendar items. Many of which
had been automatically inserted, e.g. public holidays, etc. When I deleted
all of those automatic items, the error message then only found a bit over
100 items with this error. I only included the new years day one as an
example, however there were over 100 other similar messages.

So yes, it would seem that this may work, however the thought of deleting
and retyping over 100 appointments didn't enthuse me.

Try starting Outlook with the /cleanfreebusy switch to see if clears the
problem. If it doesn't, then you can create the following registry key to
stop Outlook 2007 from making any DST changes.

Location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Options\Calendar

Create a dword value named DisableTimeZoneAutoPrompt
Set the value to 1

Thank you very much, the /cleanfreebusy switch worked, and the error message
has stopped appearing, at least I haven't seen it yet.

However, what I have realised is that occurrences of recurring appointments
that occur in both the standard and daylight savings times appear at the
wrong time (by one hour) for the duration of the daylight savings. At first I
had thought this was an issue related to having the wrong time zone settings,
but it can't be because for the non daylight savings months these
appointments appear at the correct time.

For example someone's birthday appears as 1am on their birthday until 1am
the day after their birthday.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
