Timing with Slide Show and Inserted Sound File

Whenever I view a slide show immediately after starting up my computer, I
find that the timing for the sound file I inserted and slide show is off.
If I view the slide show after running it once, then the timing is fine.

This happens even though I ensured that the sound file (an mp3 file) was in
the same folder as the slide show before I inserted it to the slide show,
and also ensured that I saved the file using the "PowerPoint Package"
format.

Anyone know why this happens? Is this a bug with PowerPoint?
