Why wouldn't I just use Safari's "Mail Link to the Page", or Firefox's
"Send Link", or Camino's "Email Page Location" commands (I don't use
OmniWeb, sorry).

Javascript works well for these type of things. Fast, compact and at
immediately clickable on the bookmarks bar.

Fair enough, but as far as I remember, Safari's "Mail Link to the Page"
option was only introduced in Tiger, so anyone running an older version of
Mac OS X might find the Java bookmarklet quite useful. And, just as Mark
said, you might want to have that option on your screen all the time, as
opposed to hidden in a menu; right now, it is not possible to have an icon
for the Mail Link command in Safari's toolbar, at least not without
additional plug-ins.

If you are already composing an email, this option gives you an easy way to
add URLs to the message. Isn't it always a good thing to have multiple ways
of accomplishing a task?

You can customize the toolbar in Camino to have an icon.

Agreed. Actually, I use a JavaScript "mail" button on my Panther
machine all the time.

Yes, and it also does "If more than one web page is open A dialog will
be displayed containing the titles of all web pages open. Select as
many as you like (use shift-click to select contiguous titles, or
command -click to select several discrete titles), and hit the 'Insert'
button.

The URLs from the selected notes will be inserted into a mail or news
message you are writing. If some text in your message window is already
selected you will be asked whether you want to replace the selected
text, or append the URL(s) to it. If no message window is open then a
new a warning will be given and the script will exit."

Okay, I'll eat crow a bit. It is helpful. Thanks.
