Title master placeholder disappears in Normal view

The Title and Text placeholder checkboxes are checked on the Master Layout
menu and can be seen when viewing the Slide master. I've resized the the
Title placeholder and changed the font. When I return to Normal view, the
Title placeholder doesn't appear, but the Text (subtitle) placeholder does.
I've tried deleting and re-adding the Title placeholder to no avail. Can
anyone shed light on this problem? Thanks.

Have you tried inserting a new slide? What happens then?

Try going to format layout and re apply either the title only layout (if you
adapted the ttle master) or any other layout if it was the slide master.

When returning to the Format layout menu, the Title and Text checkboxes are
checked and greyed (you can't change them).

I tried inserting new Title and Master slides, deleting the originals ones,
and the same thing is happening. I.e., I change the Title text format and
when I close the Master view the Title placeholder is gone.

Thanks for the ideas. Any more?!
