tmp File problem

Hi all,
My application opens three documents.
Step 1--It copies the content of Doc1 into Doc 2.
Step 2--Then it merges the content copied in Doc 2.
Step 3--Then It copies the merged content in Doc2 to Doc3.
Step 4--Deletes the content of Doc2
And then repeat the same thing (i.e) goes back to Step 1.

At any time only these documents are open. But
Now I can see lots of temp files (~WL*.tmp) getting generated as a
result the application is running slow.

My using MSWord2003 professional SP1.

Any Idea how to avoid generation of these tmp files. and improve the
performance.

Thanks in Advance
Manu

Hi (e-mail address removed),

Word ALWAYS generates temp files to keep track of the various changes
you're making. You (the user) might want to UNDO them, after all. And
there's also the Office Clipboard to keep in mind, if you're truly
using copy/paste. And if you're using Tools/Merge (hard to know what
you mean by "merge"), as well, that's an additional level of
complexity for Word to keep track of...

Close Word occasionally. Close the documents in between. use
Undo.Clear. Perform a full document save.

Those are all things that will reduce the temp file load, in the order
of there effectiveness (least is last).
