TmpDDE Macro

I know that you can to into Tools / Macro / Macros to delete this temp macro
that is apparently a general known issue in Word.

My question is however to do with Word email attachments ... I have a user
onsite you needs to print a number of unzipped Word docs. When she
right-clicks to print, the usual message "Ambigiuus Name Detected ... TmpDDE"
etc etc is displayed. However, when you open the file and print, no problems
....

I've search all over her machine and the network (and in the numerous
normal.dots we have here) for this macro but nothing ... the user has
apparently been getting this message since opening a document from one of our
senior members of staff (which was emailed to her).

It's not stopping her work but is causing problems.

Any help gratefully rec'd.

Hi Caster,

You didn't mention the version of Word, but are you also using Word as the email editor and are these files being opened directly
from the email attachments (not recommended) or from the disk drive after being saved and extracted from the zip file?

Do you get the same result if you start Word while holding the ctrl key then opening and printing the document?

Numerous normal.dot files? Using Alt, T, I what is the location of the one that is 'attached' and in that location do you have any
temp files starting with ~ for files or templates that are not in use?

Thanks for your response.

We're using Word 2003 at this site. It should not be used as the email
editor - doesn't mean of course that it isn't so I'll check this out this
morning.

The email attachments are being opened from the local drive after they have
been unzipped.

I haven't tried holding the Ctrl key but I'll try this later - wasn't aware
of this but it's good to know.

Yes, unfortunately, there are dozens of normal.dots about the network. Users
should be using one on their local drive (which is where most of the PCs are
targetted to). This is a old network with bad-practice built in but slowly
but surely we're updating and tidying things up! The normal.dot that this
particular user is pointed to is at C:

C:\Documents and Settings\User_Folder\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates.
I've removed other normal.dot files on the local drive (tried initially
renaming them to oldnormal.dot ect) and I deleted all starting ~.

If you have other suggestions, I'd be glad to try them out but in the
meanwhile I'll work with what you've already posted.
