What's that represent.

In Mac you change Currency in the international Control panel (System
Preferences)

You can change currency symbols for practically every know currency type
by selecting a Row, column or cell; and choose format cells the click on
currency in the list. Then when open click on button that has either $
or has words Currency symbol There is a drop down list that has about
100 or more different types of world currency. choose desire one.

It isn't clear whether you simply want to *Format* a cell for £ or whether
you want it to be your default currency, but either way the procedure is
virtually identical to how it would be done in a PC version of Excel.

If the former, select the cell then go to Format> Cells> Number - Currency,
open the list labeled Currency Symbol: & pick what you want.

OTOH, if you want Pounds to be your default currency, that's dependent on
your OS settings. On launch Excel takes its cue from the operating system
with regard to Currency, Dates, etc. just like it does on a Windows box. In
System Preferences> Personal> International> Formats set the Currency to
whatever flavor of Pound you prefer. That will be your default in Excel [and
system wide] the next time you launch the program.
