To be clear: synchronization really does not work properly

OK, I know that I messaged before here but this is to inform:

I keep ON 2007 files on a USB stick and carefully synchronize between home
an work.

ON insistently brings the deleted pages back after I synchronize.

This is very annoying.

I made a case at connect before. So please vote for it to improve ON!

Sad enough, we all know your problems :-( :-(
Really good to see that you are *insisting* and don't give up!!

Would you pls let us have the URL so that we can easily find your case?

Rainald
P.S. With a *fast* (better say: superfast) USB-stick (flash-drive) you
might try out what I have been (rather successfully) experimenting with:
Using "Ceedo" (with the Argo Installer)[1], installing OneNote on the
stick and using it from there (instead of / in addition to having it
running on the computer(s)) might avoid all synching issues:
The program itself and the cache sitting on the stick and being run in a
"virtual machine" would not touch anything anywhere else.

ON on a USB-stick naturally has performance issues (due to the lower
speed of sticks)[2] but the really great thing with Ceedo is the fact
that - with the program and everything else (including the cache <!>)
held on the stick - one can work on *any* computer (even in the local
Internet-Cafe) and when connected to a computer having ON installed
locally*, the ON-engine on the computer is used (with the full speed of
the computer <!>), but all of the data (incl. the cache) are kept on the
stick.
The latter - BTW - solves one of the major problems of ON's
cache-construction: Privacy.
When Ceedo is terminated, there will be no traces left behind nowhere!!

Pls try it out (the free 30-days demo would be sufficient) and report on
your findings.

TIA

[2] Performance issues will not be a factor with an external HDD. One of
the current light-weight "pocket HDDs" might be a good alternative.

This sounds interesting. Thank you.
But what do you mean by a "fast" usb stick?
It is just usb 2.0 and I use sony microvault 2gb.

Can I proceed with this?

USB-sticks highly differ in the speed they are working with.
USB standard (2.0) is just one thing, the speed of the sticks another.
You'll have to check with the manufacturers and/or with your computer
shop.

So Ceedo does not require local administrator access?

Yes. As long as one does not call programs which need higher privileges
it works just fine.
Just tried it on my desktop computer under Vista 32 logged in as
"Guest".

And as said: data like the temporary internet files are kept on the
stick.

Hello.

1) How does one install or move ON2007 to an external HDD? I already have
it installed on my computer.

2) Would changing the location (example - C:/ to F:/) suffice? Or would the
program need to be moved, such as with Windows Explorer or similar?

3) Would *all* the files (cache, templates, etc.) be moved with the program,
or does each one need handled individually?

Thanks for your help.

1) How does one install or move ON2007 to an external HDD? I already

Working the way I was talking about one would not "move" the program.
One would just make a fresh install on the drive/stick (using the Argo
Installer under Ceedo).
2) Would changing the location (example - C:/ to F:/) suffice? Or
would the program need to be moved, such as with Windows Explorer or
similar?

As said, the program would have to installed in the external device.
3) Would *all* the files (cache, templates, etc.) be moved with the
program, or does each one need handled individually?

The notebook files and the templates (if it's customized templates)
would have to be moved to the stick (copied to there). The cache will be
created automatically.

P.S. Just to make it clear: I had been talking about using an external
drive for moving around enabling to work with a computer which does not
have ON installed (f.e. in the university or the office). Keeping
notebook files only on a stick or an external HDD would be a totally
different issue.
