On 5/14/2005 4:28 PM PST, I posted a request for help, “Outlook 2003 and
Norton Internet Security (Antivirus) spam detectionâ€, saying I had been
unable to integrate Norton AntiVirus 2004 with Outlook 2003. No thanks to a
snide response from Milly Staples (MVP-Outlook), after wasting another couple
of hours, I found the solution to my problem on the Symantec knowledge base
at:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...ws 98/Me/2000/XP&src=sg&pcode=nis&svy=&csm=no
Specifically, open the section labeled, “Enabling the Norton AntiSpam
plug-in for Microsoft Outlookâ€, which I reproduce below:
To enable Norton AntiSpam in Microsoft Outlook
1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
2. On the Help menu, click About Microsoft Outlook.
3. Click Disabled Items.
4. Enable Norton AntiSpam.
5. Click OK.
6. Exit Microsoft Outlook.
7. Start Microsoft Outlook.
Just another one of the little hidden traps our software makers (Microsoft
this time) lay for the unwary customer! And Symantec doesn't make it
particularly easy to uncover this one either.
