Dear Sir, my question is along the line of question 111, what I like to achieve is the following, I have entered in the A Column my positions such Large Cap Growth, Large Cap Value etc. In column B I have entered the dollar value of each acct.
than at the bottom I have the GRAND Total of all my holdings, Now I highlight all the positions except the " Grand Total " , than I select a PIE CHART ( it shows up in the box ) but here is big question what do I need to do to express / insert the percentage ( % ) of each holding in the chart.
In other words the chart should show that for instance Large Cap Growth represent 15 % of my total investments, Large Cap value represents 20 % of my total investments etc.
Any HELP you can give me is greatly appreciated, thank you Manfred H. Braig

Hi Manfred -

I take it you have plotted the chart by selecting the appropriate cells in
both column A & column B, so while the chart is selected make sure you have
the Toolbox active. In the Formatting Palette of the Toolbox go to the Chart
Options group. Near the bottom of it is the Labels: list - open the list &
select Percent.

Hello Bob,

well I typed the summery again making sure the title ( Large Cap ) is in the A column and the $$ values in the B column , plus at the end the Grand Total.
I opened up the Toolbox and selected under " NUMBERS" , Format Box and selected PERCENTAGE. Then I selected a Pie Chart, Highlighted column A & B just before GRAND TOTAL, I did get the Pie Chart on the page. When I printed the summary everything is legible on the sheet name of holding, dollar amount, pie chart in various colors but no percentages are given next to each pie section, to give me the % holding of each position.
Another thing happened, once I selected "percentage" the "%' symbol appeared on each line where I had the dollar amount listed.

Where I am going wrong ??? Please be kind and advise, thank you for your assistance. best regards, Manfred

Good News BOB, I figured it out, I just have to put the cursor over each pie section and than a little window tells me the % percentage of my total holding. Thank you again, manfred

You're changing the formatting of the cells in Column B - that's not what I
suggested :)

Select the Chart Object (not the cells containing the values), then:

In the Formatting Palette of the Toolbox go to the *Chart
Options* group. Near the bottom of it is the *Labels:* list - open the list
& select Percent.
