To many fields defined

I am trying to add colums and it says that to many fields are defined. I
tried taking a few out to make room but it stills says to many fields are
defined.

Try compressing the database.

Where? In a form? A Table? How many do you have? Have you tried
compacting and repairing the database?

You can have a limit of 255 fields in a table - however, if you have reached
this point there's a very good chance your table is not properly normalized.
