To Start Presentation faster

R

Raimonto

Hi all

What are the factors that influence to the speed of starting a PP
presentation on a CD? I have approx. 350 MB presentation including a lot of
photos, quite many animations and a lot of links to short video clips. I
have created the show via "Package for CD" option and burned it on CD with
the video files, some sub-presentations etc.

The presentation starts automatically otherwise nice as expected, but it
takes forever to start. How can I speed this up?

What would be a good trick to show "loading" or somehow show that the PP is
starting. Now it only shows black display, and I suppose most of the viewers
will stop waiting assuming the CD won´t work.

Thanks for your advise in advance.

Data access from a CD is inherently slow. The only solution I can
suggest is to copy the file to the system Hard Drive & run it from
there whenever possible. CDs are fine for transporting & archiving, but
_not_ for active use of files.

Hi all

The size of the file will be the biggest factor; consider how long it takes to
copy the presentation to your hard drive. It'll probably never open any faster
than that.

The video links won't add much to the file size, nor will the animations, so I'd
look into the picture size and see if there's anything else that might be
bloating the file:

You could also break up your main presentation into smaller chunks then create a
simple "Menu" presentation with links to each of the parts (assuming that your
content and presentation permit this; it may not)
