To start Windows Sharepoint search service

Hi I wanted to start the search service of Win sharepoint. How Can I do it.
What Account should I use. Please give details and step by step instruction

I have exactly the same problem: I used an admin account from active
directory, a local admin account, and when attempting so start the
search service, the system event viewer tells that the user account
name is "too long"

Anybody here should have a clue ???
