I used Format, background, Watermark and then chose a picture. Still it gets
pushed ahead to a blank area. After reading your response again I tried but
the same thing happens. I did not "insert" a graphic. Moreover the watermark
does not get selected. Now please help. Thanks

Again, you're in the Mac Word newsgroup. If you're responding to a reply you
should do so in the same thread, not as a new message. Besides, Suzanne
rarely visits this group. You posted in microsoft.public.word.docmanagement
& your message subject is "Watermark appears ahead of text", so return to
that group, locate the topic & respond there in order to maintain
continuity.
