To the news administrators - IMPORTANT

Hi,

These forums do not work properly with:

1 - Safari 1.0. Cannot post at all on Mac OS X 10.2.8. It says that cookies are not enabled, yet they are indeed enabled!

2 - Internet Explorer 5.2.3 - Cannot auto login. Clicking the auto login option does not work. Besides, you cannot post new messages from the forum pages like the Word for Mac forum. Clicking the letter with star icon (New) does nothing. You must go to the generic link at http://communities2.microsoft.com/c....here&cat=en-us-posting-testing&lang=en&cr=US

3 - Cannot post using a newsreader like Unison from www.panic.com. When try to post it says that I am not registered.

4 - When posting right this message and then choosing a Discussion Group from the popup menu, the list is not sorted alphabetically. it is really hard to find the groups where you want to post.

if possible, please fix these annoying issues. Thanks a lot!

Hi Tony,

Microsoft's web news portals are not as Mac friendly as they ought to be and
I am passing your post on to the people who might be able to do something
about it. In the meantime, I suggest accessing these newsgroups via
Entourage (or some other newsreader) or, if you really prefer the web, via
Google Groups. You'll find complete information about all these
alternatives here (you may have to reload once or twice if you use Safari;
IE will be fine): <http://word.mvps.org/MacWordNew/AccessNewsgroups.htm>

You don't need to register or login to use these groups on a newsreader,
only via the web b/c they add some features (notification, maybe?). I have
no idea how to use Unison, but in Entourage, the only information required
is the server:

msnews.microsoft.com

I believe the link Beth gave has more detail on setting up Entourage, which
you will presumably be able to translate for Unison.

DM,

Thanks.

Tried now with Unison and msnews.microsoft.com

And now worked!

Thanks.

Beth,

Thanks.

If I may say so, the Apple Discussion forums are an example to follow.

I tried with Safari 1.0 on Mac OS X 10.2.8 via Google newsgroups, yet
cannot post.
