TOC A-1, A-2

Michele

Hello ~

I've read through past posts and used suggestions to set up my
document for the page numbering to be A-1, A-2, etc. However, I would
like for my title on the Exhibit or Appendix page to only be a title
and NOT include the numbering. The number or letter is added to the
actual heading when I apply the built-in style. The following is an
example.

Exhibit

text .....

(page number in footer) A-1

OR

Appendix

text .....

(page number in footer) A-2

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks you.

It's inelegant, but can't you just type in the "A-" part
of it and then insert a page number after it?

Hi Linda~

Yes - that would work however I would like the pages automatically to
be included in the TOC when its generated without having to ask the
user to manually type it in.

Thanks.

The only way I can think of to do this is kind of clunky, but it may work
for you. Format the numbering of the style (assuming it is Heading 9 style,
Format>Style>Heading 1>Modify>Format>Numbering>Customize>Level 9), click on
the Font button for the numbering applied to that level of your outline, and
check 'Hidden' option. OK out of all dialogs. Now go to
Tools>Options>Print, uncheck 'Hidden text' under 'Include with document' if
it is checked.

Of course, this won't work for you if you have other hidden text, such as
comments, that you want to include in the printout. And it will be visible
on-screen if you share this document with others who have the option set to
view hidden text. Which is why it is clunky. Another alternative, working
off the same principle, is to set the font of the numbering for that level
of the outline to be white instead of hidden.

I'm having the same issue. Isn't there a field somewhere to set up pages
numbers and have them be inserted exactly like that in the TOC?
