TOC across multiple documents

Hello,

I am working on a large document with many tables and
figures throughout. I would like to divide it into
several smaller documents but would like to be able to
generate a global TOC.

Is there a way to do this ?

which is what you need to use.

Hello,

I have the TOC across multiple documents working just
fine ... now I am working on one for the Table of
Figures. I refer to the documents in the order that I
want them to go in the table of figures, but that is not
the order they appear in. The Figures from the current
document are at the end, while figures from other
documents occur first. Is there a way to correct this?

Hi Katy

When you refer to the "current document", do I assume that you have a
document that contains some material, and that the TOC and/or TOF has to
refer to material in that document *and* other documents?

The way I usually do this is to create a document that contains nothing but
the TOC and TOF. Well, it would actually have
- a heading
- all the RD fields, in the right order
- the TOC field(s)
- the TOF field(s)

Then you avoid any problems of dealing with the "current" document.

In really complicated cases, I mark the area of the RD fields with a
bookmark, and get the TOC and TOF to refer only to the bookmark by using the
\b switch.
