TOC and Custom Outline Numbered List

M

Marco

I have a "Heading 1" style with custom Outline numbering.
The number is written Verdana 32pt, while the paragraph
style is Futura.

In Word 2000, making a TOC inherited the formatting and
kept the chapter number's font 32 pt, which made the TOC
give emphasis these numbers

In Word 2003, everything EXCEPT the font size is written
to the TOC.

Any hint?

Hi Marco

For what it's worth, I can replicate your observations in Word 2000 and
2003. What's disappointing is that the effect seems to be inconsistent.
The TOC keeps the direct colour formatting of the numbering, but not its
font or size. I can't think of any easy way around the problem.

You might like to tell Microsoft about this at (e-mail address removed).
Include the word Word and a brief description in the subject of your
email.

Hope this helps.

A fascinating bug. Given that Word has no specification, it is hard to
know which version (if any) is working correctly, but apparently one
or more versions aren't.

In Word 2002 SP2 the TOC gets the font and bold but not the size or
italic! At least that's what happened this time...

Did you really mean to say that in Word 2003 the TOC doesn't preserve
the font? What font does it use then, the one from the heading
paragraph or the one from the TOC style or the one in Normal? The OP
says the TOC does preserve the font in Word 2003.
