I am using Word 2000 SP 3 on Windows XP. I set my
Headings styles to be numbered. When I update my Table
Of Contents, it arbitrarily inserts an extra tab which
throws off the pager number leading dots and alignment.
This extra tab midway in the page does not exist in the
TOC styles, in the styles upon which they're based, or in
the headings that are being used to build the Table of
Contents.
