TOC doing odd things

Jane Wright

I have followed John McGhie's guide to creating templates
so have got my heading styles set based on the previous
level etc. These need to be numbered which I have also
coped with. I am using up to level 3 - ie 1.1.1.
However, when I generate the TOC the leader dots appear
between the number and the heading with the page number
immediately following like:
1.1.1..............................Results6
What I want is:
1.1.1 Results............................ 6
Can anyone help please?
Many thanks
Jane

Most likely you need to move the hanging indent (and its associated
automatic tab stop), which is set too far to the left for your numbering
style. The result is that the tab following the number takes the text all
the way to the tab stop for the page number. Drag the hanging indent marker
(on the ruler) to the right in one entry until the problem is solved. The
TOC 3 style should update automatically.
