TOC formatting in Word 2000

I have used the TOC in Word since Word 2.

Recently, if I change the font size of a heading, the TOC
entry appears in the same font size, even though I have
set the style to 12 point.

Heading styles and ToC styles are two different styles. Changing the style
of the Heading won't necessarily be picked up by the ToC. If you check the
lost of Styles, you will see separate styles for Headings 1 to 9 and TOCs 1
to 9.

If you are changing the font formatting of the heading itself, this will be
picked up by the TOC (which picks up all direct font formatting). If you
instead change the font formatting of the heading style, the formatting will
not be reflected in the TOC.

you've obviously tried to update that style and it didn't
work???
go into the format, style and create a new toc, if there
is a problem with that.. try again and make sure you click
in the box stating that this style is based on NO STYLE...
that work's sometimes...
