TOC from differently colored highlighted text macro ?

Macro or other option??? Please, can anyone help me?

Im not sure but Ive been told I want to write a macro for
word 2002 that:

finds and replaces, (actually copies) my differently
colored highlighted text from

word 2002,
powerpoint 2002,
and Adobe .pdf (if possible)

documents and puts the extracted text into a word
2002 .doc file

My highlighted red and green and pink and blue and yellow
text with a

Table Of Contents

(TOC) that had indents levels:
1=red(article_headings),
2=green(article_issues),
3=pink(article_quotes),
4=yellow(article_references),
5=blue(my_issues),.

I'm reading lengthy articles and wish to highlight text
different colours depending upon the catagory heading,
issue, quote, refernce and my own bits added in. [perhaps
I cant add in my own bits with pdf but Ican still
highlight in those colors]

I want to be able to read and highlight different
catagories, say a word or two up to a whole paragraph.
Later, I want to be able to print off my highlighted
pieces in a TOC layout. The different colors would
correspond to a level.

Ideally, I would like to highlight and click a toolbar
button.

If I can assign a toolbar picture all the better.

Im running win xp home and Office xp. Any other
suggestions would be greatly appreciated including other
newsgroup. Hope someone can understand my question!

many thanks,

mark

PS DOES anyone know how I can get colored text
highlighting to work with iexplorer. (if you know what I
mean)

Hi Mark,

You may want to check with the folks in these newsgroups:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.word.numbering
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.word.vba.beginners

There are utilities that let you annotate or collect text
from various webpages to your hard drive. This one may not
be along the lines of what you're trying to do, but you
do a search on the web for others

Im sorry to say that there seems to be a race on between
supposed 'experts'.

Not 1 answer, just sent elsewhere!

get real experts

answe the questions, don't just refer everyone to other
newsgroups

these are not "real" answers,

just a race to reply

So if you go to the drugstore asking for a hammer and they direct you
to the hardware store do you get nasty with them too?

FWIW, what you are asking is not an simple matter of 'recording a
macro' nor is it something even one proficient in VBA can just 'whip
out' in a newsgroup post.

Not to mention you *did* receive a few responses: 1 offer for
commercial services (which btw, is the scope of your request), 1
request to provide more information, 1 providing you with a macro to
help get you started, and another requesting you actually follow-up
and read the responses to your posts instead of continuing to repost
your question.

Thanks Beth,

Not really the help Im seeking but thank you for the
lecture nonetheless. Im not seeking commercial products
or paid Word consultants, lessons in VBA (whatever that
is?), or any other instruction. As I wrote, I just hope
someone will be able to HELP me.

Sorry if you feel I was 'nasty' but having re-read my
post several times I fail to see your problem. I was
merely making an observation and was asking the question
rhetorically. I didnt expect someone to answer!

Sorry you took offence, I'll try to not ask difficult
questions in the future and I shall stop hoping Beth type
experts may actually just HELP rather than direct.

Cheers to all those who helped me!

Remember Beth, I was just seeking HELP! lighten up!

Hi Mark,

I reviewed your posting history (using Google groups search) and I can
see why you may be frustrated. You have asked the same question to
several newsgroups and the majority of the responses you received
directed you to another newsgroup.

What I don't think you understand is the question you posted is out of
the scope of the majority of the newsgroups. You posted to:

microsoft.public.windowsxp.security_admin
microsoft.public.word.newusers
microsoft.public.word.numbering
microsoft.public.office.misc
microsoft.public.word.vba.beginners

Aside from the word.vba.beginners newsgroup, your post in the other
newsgroups would be similar to walking into a drugstore and asking for
a hammer. :)

The help you were offered in the other groups directed you to the
appropriate types of newsgroups which would be VBA newsgroups.

Now let's think about this Mark, would you rather everyone ingored
your post(s) since it was out of the scope of the group? If you stood
on a street corner asking a question would you be thankful for those
who actually stopped and offered some type of direction?

Based on your recent information, if you aren't willing to learn VBA
then I doubt you will find what you are looking for in any newsgroup.
From the sound of it, you want someone to write a Journal application
you. That's not the principle behind the newsgroups, Mark.

These are peer-to-peer newsgroups. Your peers are not here to do your
work (or your homework) for you. Before posting a question or request
for help, you should put in time and effort yourself. We're happy to
help, but we, too, have real jobs and real lives. We don't have the
time to do your work for you.

I noted you received a response in the word.newusers newsgroup from
Mark Tangert, who also supports the Word VBA newsgroups. That would be
the thread to persue. However I suspect you'll also need to learn a
little VBA and do some of the work yourself. :)

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.

To all those who sent their support privately, thank you!

To those that sent me HELP, extra thank you!

It seems there are people out there that genuinely JUST
want to help. My faith in human nature is restored.

Sorry Beth.
