"How" did you number the items?
If you are relying on TC tags to mark the text for your TOC, the number must
be inside the TC tag along with the heading text.
The simple way to make a TOC is to "Use heading styles". If you use the
Heading 1 through 9 built-in styles for your headings, and generate your TOC
using "Styles", the TOC will just "work", you don't have to do anything
else.
If you define numbering as part of the heading styles, the numbering will be
shown in the TOC. Again, you don't have to do anything special.
Read the help on Table of Contents and on Heading Numbering, and follow the
procedure in there absolutely exactly: it will then work. If you try to
omit steps or cut corners -- your mileage will very definitely vary

Hi. When I create a Table of Contents in Word it does not show the section
numbering even though I have numbered every marked item in the document body.
Any ideas?
