"Today" button sometimes doesn't work

Under these conditions, the "Today" button doesn't cause
todays date to be selected in month view mode:
1) Start Outlook
2) Click Hotmail - Inbox (Hotmail is my email provider)
3) Click "New" email composition.
4) X out of the composer window.
