Just started working with a firm using an Exchange server. I have access to the Exchange server from Outlook 2007 on the desktop and Entourage 2004 on my MacBook Pro. Some questions:
- Do I really need two INBOXes, one for Exchange and one for everything else?
- Is it really true that my Outlook tasks won't sync to Entourage?
- Is there any way to get a configurable single view that shows my e-mail, my tasks and my calendar, similar to the way Outlook or Thunderbird/Lightning can?

Hi,
Just started working with a firm using an Exchange server. I have access
to the Exchange server from Outlook 2007 on the desktop and Entourage
2004 on my MacBook Pro. Some questions:

Yep. Entourage has to make a distinction between files stored on the
Exchange server and local files. That would be the same as using an
Exchange account in Outlook, with a PST for local files and archives.
- Is it really true that my Outlook tasks won't sync to Entourage?

Unfortunately yes, though that might change for people with an Exchange
2007 account as soon as the beta for Entourage EWS (Exchange Web
Services) comes out.
- Is there any way to get a configurable single view that shows my
e-mail, my tasks and my calendar, similar to the way Outlook or
Thunderbird/Lightning can?

You can create custom views for virtually anything you want.
The one thing you cannot do that exists in Outlook is to overlay
different calendars on top of each other,

You even have a My Day application to display all the events for the
day.

Thanks! That would be good. Can you point me to a document that will tell me how to create a view that show in one main window my e-mail, tasks, and calendar items? I could send you a screen shot of what I have in mind, but there is no way to attach it here.

You can try the Help.
Otherwise you already have a few preset custom views you could edit.

I can't remember exactly where the commands are in 2004 (since they are
different in the 2004 version I have)

Yeah, tried all that first. I'm pretty sure that I need either 2008 or some add-in. I'd love to be proved wrong, however.

The Outlook view I use has my e-mail preview window in the middle. To the left are two column, one showing all my folders and one listing the contents of the selected folder.

On the right is a single column entitled the "To-Do Bar" with the current month's calendar on top, followed be

It is indeed part of Office 2008.
