Toggled field codes

Morning,

I'm currently working on a very large document that has many figures and
captions in it. Thus, i have been using fields in order to keep track and
make sure the figure numbers are correct etc etc.

All was fine until yesterday when Word started to Toggle the field codes, so
know where it should say Figure 6.4 is says {REF_Ref229211490 h l\*
MERGEFORMAT }.
It does not matter too much, its very frustrating, but I can select all and
then right click --> Toggle Field Codes and that works (Temporarily). If I
insert another figure or print preview all the field codes toggle back again.

Is there any way to make the fields stay as text and not code?

Hi Andy,

You should be able to toggle the field code display on/off via Alt-F9. There shouldn't be a need to select anything for this to
work.
