"Too Many Cell Formats!!!"

J

Jay Jayaraman

When I try to change the format of a cell or a group of
cells, I get a message "Too many Cell formats.". It has no
explanation as to why it is happening or no help features
related to this message.

Has anyone encountered this and is there a solution to
this problem?

Jay,

Excel can handle only 4K different cell formats, every combination
of font, font size, number format, colors, borders, etc. You need
to reduce the number of formats that you use.

Chip,

Thanks for the response. Would this 4K limit also include
conditional formatting? I have a ton of conditional
formatting included in my spreadsheets.
