Tool within a tool

This is probably not possible, and my question may be a little confusing so
bear with me :)

We use workspaces for each "file" we handle. Each workspace has a
discussions tool, file tool, and some custom made tools. At the time we
created these workspaces, we were using a separate non-groove database that
kept track of each of these workspaces.

Recently, I transferred all of the information from the "outside" database
to one I created in groove. The one is groove is set up with tabs so I can
click on the client tab for example and see which client gave us the work for
that particular workspace. Right now, we have a rich text field in the new
groove database with a link to that allows us to click on it and take us to
the corresponding workspace. It's a little clunky.

Some of the tools in the workspaces would be great to have in the
corresponding database. For example, when I get a call on a project, I look
up the project in the groove database. Once found, I click on the workspace
link that takes me directly to the workspace holding that project. It would
be more efficient I think if I got the same phone call, looked up the project
in the database, and clicked on a tab in said database that has the same
"tool" information and setup as the workspace. For example, one tool we use
is the discussions tool. Instead of clicking on the hyperlink and going to
the workspace, I could click on a tab and enter information within the
database.

Basically, I'm looking for a way to condense everything or most everything
into the same custom database form. Is this possible or is it another pipe
dream of mine?

Thanks in advance for your advice.
