Toolbar commands

The posting below 10 days ago in the microsoft.public.excel group has not
produced a response perhaps the answer is much the same in the Mac world,
which I personally prefer and use mostly can you help please:

Are the toolbar commands listed on the net with their button images and
description?

I am helping a partially sighted friend who would like to find commands
himself, rather than have to ask me each time, but he finds it difficult to
scroll through, even with magnification

I am sure he will learn more by himself and feel he is achieving something
if he could read through a webpage at will

Many thanks

Francis Hookham

PS
Te same for Word would be helpful but perhaps I should ask there - I'll wait
to see here first

As far as I know, there is nothing on the net that meets his needs.

The only thing I can suggest is that he can, if using OS X, use the
accessibility options to zoom in. Hovering over the icon will cause a
tooltip to pop up with the name of the command.

You can find some documents with function/argument lists here:

http://www.contextures.com/functions.html

but they don't have icons, AFAIK.

Hi,

MacOSX Voice-over Utility does not speak the text in tool-tips. If it
did, then I think that would solve your friend's problem.

Right now the utility only says "unknown" for buttons and it ignores
tooltips even within MacOS itself.

The place to make suggestions to Apple is:
http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/

Please consider sending Apple a suggestion that they add the ability to
VoiceOver Utility to speak tool tips.
