toolbar disappeared

all word docs (new and saved) appear in the full screen
mode. there is no access to toolbar/menu. alt v and esc
don't work, neither does the cursor find anything. ms
office system is 97 updated 2000 updated xp. have ran
the add/remove w/cd to repair. still no work. please
help asap. tia
