Toolbar for Picture editing in Word 2007

Inserting a picture is easier in 2007, but simple editing, eg cropping, is
difficult because the command cannot be found. I used it once but cannot
find it again.
Is there an equivalent in 2007 of the floating toolbars we had in 2003?

Finding commands in 2007 is very frustrating. Obviously I do not use word
the way Microsoft developers do.

The tools for manipulating pictures are present on the ribbon only
when a picture is selected. This is a general principle in 2007, which
you'll also see with tables, headers and footers, equations, etc.

When you click on a picture to select it, the Picture Tools tab
appears, and all the tools are on the ribbon. The cropping tool,
specifically, is in the dropdown from the Size button at the far
right.

There are not floating toolbars or any equivalent, other than loading
the Quick Access Toolbar with every button you think you want.

Thanks for the explanation. I missed the concept of tools being presented
based on the item that is selected. Explains my psuedo-random experience of
when commands were visible and when they were not.
