Toolbar icons

Does anyone know where MS Office 2003 stores it's new 32 bit toolbar icons?
I have tried to find them by scanning all of the resource-containing files
on my harddrive but I was not succesfull in finding them. I have tried to
grab them using a standard screen capture utility but as the new icons have
a mask they are rendered according to the background.

If anyone knows whare they are stored or where I can download them please
tell me :)

Hi Diane
Most are embedded in dll's or exe's in the office directory.

That was exactly what I thought too. Normally images and other resources are
stored in files such as DLL, OCX, VBX, or ICL files. However I have scanned
all of these files for resources but with no luck. I managed to extract a
lot of other files but nowhere in the extracted files were the toolbar icons
(with alpha channels) that I was looking for. I will take a look at the link
you kindfully mailed to me when the server is up and running again
(http://www.outlooktips.net/Office2003images.zip).

I don't believe you'll find these toolbar images using standard tools, as
these are not actually icons, but bitmaps.

(I hate to even bring this up, but Microsoft has some official guidelines as
to what you may and may not do with these images.)

Hi Eric
I don't believe you'll find these toolbar images using standard tools, as
these are not actually icons, but bitmaps.

The tool I use (and have developed) can extract a lot of different resources
including bitmaps, icons, cursors, web pages, and AVIs. I have even tried
looking for non-standard resource files, but no luck. No bitmaps containing
the toolbar images either.
(I hate to even bring this up, but Microsoft has some official guidelines as
to what you may and may not do with these images.)

And you are right. There are some restrictions listed in the EULA. I will
contact MS before I start using them to verify wether or not I may use them
in my applications. MS usually don't mind others using standard toolbar
images like open, save, and new as it ensures consistency in Windows apps.
But you might be right in that the new images might have som restrictions. I
will look into it.

Best regards
