Hi,

Everytime I open MS Word, my tool bars open at a different location
that the one I left them on closing. Is there a preference file for
the toolbars location (not the display of the toolbar and it's content
only there physical location at the top of my screen).

Thanks in advance.

Hi Robert:

Toolbar Positions are stored in both your Normal template and your user
Preferences.

See here:

Hi John,

I have been designing my icons and my toolbars so I would not want to
trash my NORMAL file. What could be the preference file to recreate ?

Thanks in advance.

Robert

P.S. How do I get an automatic email of a response received to one of
my post ? Do I have to go back everytime to the group to see if I
have replies ?

I have tested these 2 prefs files that I have found, and the problem
persists:

com.microsoft.word.prefs.plist
com.microsoft.word.plist

Hi Robert:

Close Word and re-name your Normal template. Word will create a new one
when it restarts.

Then copy your customised toolbars from the old template. The icons will
come with them.

Note: This assumes that you have created your "own" toolbars. Word will
not allow you to copy the built-in toolbars from one template to another: to
do so would corrupt the template. If you haven't created your own toolbars,
do so now, and copy the buttons from the standard toolbars to your own ones,
then re-name the template.

Whether you get a prompt email or not depends on how you are accessing the
groups. If you access via Microsoft Communities, you can set it to email
you.

Cheers

Hi John and Clive,

Thank you both for your support. I will try it and give you
feedback. Excuse the delay. I am used to receive my other discussion
messages directly, so I forgot to check my GoogleGroup.

Do I understand that if I wish to receive my messages directly I
should be registered elsewhere than in GoogleGroups ? If so, what is
the link to get registered ?

Thanks again.

Robert,

This discussion group doesn't have provisions to notify people. Also, there
can sometimes be long delays in seeing posts via Google groups and other
web-based access. There's a comprehensive article on access at
http://word.mvps.org/Mac/AccessNewsgroups.html

Hi John,

How do I do that ? Thanks in advance.

Robert,

Take a look at page 45 et seq in some notes on the way I use Word for the
Mac, titled "Bend Word to Your Will", which are available as a free download
from the Word MVPs' website
(http://word.mvps.org/Mac/Bend/BendWordToYourWill.html).

[Note: "Bend Word to your will" is designed to be used electronically and
most subjects are self-contained dictionary-style entries. If you decide to
read more widely than the item I've referred to, it's important to read the
front end of the document -- especially pages 3 and 5 -- so you can select
some Word settings that will allow you to use the document effectively.]
