The toolbars will stretch automatically if they need to: to make them
longer, put more items on them!
This, of course assumes that each toolbar is only one row high. If it
isn't, drag the lower right corner up and to the right so the toolbar
collapses vertically and stretches to the right. You will need to drag it
quite a way before it begins to resize. Then quit and restart Word so it
remembers the setting.
I recommend that you create your OWN toolbar and give it a name. The reason
is that if you ever have to recover it, you can copy a non-default toolbar
out of your template. Word prevents you copying any of the default
toolbars.
Now, copy to the toolbar you have just made everything you use at least once
a day. My rule is that toolbars are a place for things I use once a day,
Menus are the place for things I use less often, and keystrokes I reserve
for things I use every few minutes
Now take a cruise through your other toolbars, and copy anything you find
useful from those: I like to bring some drawing commands up onto my personal
toolbar. Keep adding stuff until the toolbar hits the right end of the
screen and becomes two lines high.
Hope this helps
Does anyone know how to extend (resize) the toolbars for Word in Mac?
The toolbars I use only cover half of the screen width. I can see the
desktop behind the toolbars. I have tried to click and hold the lower
right side of the toolbar to drag it across the screen but that
doesn't work. I am thinking that it is a simple fix that I am just not
seeing. Thanks.
