toolbars reinitialize

My system: Windows XP Pro SP2. I use Word 2003 as part of Office 2003 Pro.

I upgraded to Win SP2 recently, and a problem appeared at roughly the same
time: if I customize my toolbars, they reinitialize after I restart Word, to
the way it was when I opened it after first installation.

The same goes with Shortcut keys.

If you have an answser, thanks in advance.

Yes, I have Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional. As a result, I also have the
PDFMaker 7.0 add-in and the corresponding toolbar.

Adobe! It is a clever Adobe bug that inhibits Word from saving normal.dot.

There's a rough workaround: edit the Windows registry. You need to find the
key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\PDFMaker.OfficeAddin]

and change the subkey called "LoadBehavior" from a value of 3 to 0

Thanks a lot: my problem evaporated... but so did PDFMaker. You really think
Adobe would have developped something efficient for such an important task,
wouldn't you? Well, maybe next time.

Thanks again.

Well previous version of Acrobat caused Word to save normal.dot everytime
Word was closed - even though no changes were made to the global template.
Their answer is to stop Word from ever saving changes to the global
template!

If you actually use the Adobe add-in then change the Registry back.
Then if you make changes to your Normal.dot you need to hold the Shift
key, open the File menu and select "Save All" to force changes to the
Normal.dot to be saved.
