I need to create a tooling database. The idea is to list all available
tooling, maintenance schedule and services records. It there any free
template that I can download and modify to accommodate my needs? Appreciate
any help. Thanks

What program are you considering? How many records will you have in, say, a
month?

Hi Susan,

I would like to use microsoft access database but I am open for suggestions.
About the records, once I load all my toolings into the database, it only
changes when I buy new ones. I would like to schedule preventive maintenance
twice a year, so the total records will be no more than 1000 a month.
Thanks

vaa571,

The reason I ask is that, if you need a simple database without a ton of
records, Excel is often quite adequate for that purpose. You can use it to
analyze and track information, filter and sort. And, for most folks, it's a
lot simpler to use. (not knowing how comfortable you are with Access).

Have you checked on the Microsoft Office site for any templates for either
Access or Excel?

Susan,

I would like to use access to simplify data entry and avoid errors. There
will be a lot of information to be stored at the database like tooling p/n,
serial #, calibration due date, contact p/n used on this tool, crimp height
information, pull test information, etc... I was holping that someone in this
community would had came across to a template. Unfortunately there is none
available at Microsoft Template Web Site. I am very confortable with access,
just trying to save myself some time.

Thanks

I would use the inventory database that comes with office, you can tailor
each category as well as name and function and whatever, Its free with office
go with it
I use it in my small motorcyle repair business for everything, well almost
everything
