tools-customize disabled

Betsy

I am trying to help a co-worker. In Word 2000, the Tools-Customize button is
grayed out and the popup message says "customize: disabled by system
administrator" . I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office. The other apps
seem ok.

I would appreciate any help you can give me on this message.

Have you spoken with the system administrator to see if the message has any
validity?

If not, then I'd suspect either an add-in or a virus.

If you want to risk annoying your system admin, you can open the VBA editor
(Alt+F11, if the admin has left you that), change into the immediate window
(Ctrl+G), and type

WordBasic.ToolsCustomize

followed by the Enter key.
