The "Tools" pull-down menu has disappeared from my copy of Word 2008.
How can I get it back?

Aha! Create a new Normal. We now return you to your regularly scheduled
programming.

.... Or View> Customize Toolbars & Menus, on the Commands page select
Built-in Menus then drag the Tools menu package to its rightful spot on the
application toolbar - that way you don't lose or have to retrieve other
customizations stored in Normal.

Alternatively, access to the Customize dialog can be had by
Control/Right-Clicking any toolbar.

Unfortunately there were some other anomalies in Normal... so I made a
new one, quit the program and saved a copy of it under a different name
-- which I can swap in as and when needed.

Glad you're happy, Matthew. I'm happy too, because of your Orson Welles
quote. And it will make my wife happy; she will include it in her next Slow
Food newsletter... ;-)

If it's really slow food, you might have to amend it to: ..."ask what's
for lunch next Thursday."

What a free spirit you are, Phillip! In 30 years of living in Canberra I
have never heard that pun! I will keep it alive!
