tools menu causes word crash

using microsoft word 2002, i am encountering a crash when
i click on the tools menu. the menu does not open, it
just crashes right when i click on the word 'tools'. i
have tried reinstalling and using restore points, and
neither solution has fixed the problem. help!

Try nuking the Registry data key as described at
